440 units, pool, keiki pool, 2 spas, 4 tennis courts, free fitness room, Ping-Pong, foosball, bbqs, air conditioning (in living rooms), free Wi-Fi (by pool) or hi-speed Internet access in units and computers available in the lobby, elevators, room safes ($3), washer/dryer in units, large lanais on half (every other unit has a smaller lanai), maid service is every 5 days (at Castle units). Across the street from Kama‘ole III Beach, these ten 4-story buildings have some units with adequate views of the distant ocean, but most have garden views, which are very pretty, especially at night. Some have no view at all. With the keiki (kids) pool and a beach across the street, it’s a good place for kids. (How ironic that Kama‘ole means childless in Hawaiian.) The slate around the pool gets pretty hot on the feet. (We feel sorry for the poor hula dancers during the weekly mai tai parties, but they wet down the slate for them.) The spiral staircase in the middle of the living room leading to top floor of some of the 2/2s is really...huge. Rooms are large, and most are nicely furnished at 818 sq. ft. for the 1/2s, 1,036–1,188 sq. ft. for 2/2s. Castle (the first number above) has most of the units, and rates for 1/2 units are $235–$310, 2/2s are $320–$410. 2-night minimum. Castle prices are almost always sold as a package, so we doubt you’ll pay that rate. The second set of numbers is for a huge owners’ group (which has a good relationship with Castle), and their units are in the same pool, but rates are about half. No maid service with them, though, just free room safes. There is a $15 “registration fee” paid by all renters for use of the carded access gates and a free daily paper.
