286 rooms, pool, restaurant, lounge, 3 conference rooms, coin-op laundry, empty fridge (deluxe rooms and suites only), coffee makers, Wi-Fi in lobby and computer kiosks, hi-speed Internet access in room, free safety deposit boxes at front desk. This is one of better hotels in Hilo (though that in itself is not worth tons of bragging rights). Built in 1973, their location on Banyan Drive overlooking Coconut Island affords them nice views. Rooms are clean and comfortable but very dated. Overall, the buildings are well-maintained for their age. The top (8th) floor is the smoking floor (Why do they get the best views?). Local calls are $1. There are some small shops on property (not run by the hotel), such as a beauty salon, massage spa and a convenience store. Rooms (345–378 sq. ft.) are $165–$265. Jr. suites (690 sq. ft.) are $235–$295. Other suites (690–756 sq. ft.) are $325–$455. Check for discounts.
